Creative direction


About
Emir is a Norwegian Grammy award winning artist, signed to Sony Music Entertainment in Norway. We wanted to brand the artist with a more sophisticated approach when it came to photography for his releases, press photos and marketing assets. We also wanted to give him a proper design guide book that would be implemented across all surfaces and channels to thoroughly communicate the identity of the artist. This was project where I got to work really closely with the artist from start to finish on all aspects, and it was really enjoyable too.

My Role
I did a visual and creative mapping process with the artist and management to figure out how he saw himself and his music visually as well as what preferences he had when it came to visuals in general. This exercise gave me the opportunity to really get to know the artist and where his head was at. I gathered a cohesive direction that included everything from photo direction to direction on styling, grooming and poses to design language and style, type of music videos that would go along with the rest and ideas for online content. I also pulled together the team consisting of Photographer, Art Director/Designer, 3D/Motion Artist, Stylist, Groomer and in-house designers and video editor to deliver what we planned. Art Director Erik Herrström did an amazin job making the graphic language come to life and it worked really well with the photography we did. The project has won several awards and mentions in the international design scene.
